Tay Valley Family History Society was founded in 1980 with 140 members, and aims to promote the study of family history and genealogy throughout the Tay Valley, which includes the former counties of Dundee, Angus, Fife, Kinross and Perthshire in Scotland. Tay Valley F.H.S. was only the third local group to be formed in Scotland.

When we were put in touch with Tay Valley, they were looking to replace their ageing server and client PC’s as part of a natural refresh cycle.  Throughout discussions, we built a solution that entailed a new Windows Domain network based on Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials, with Windows 7 clients allowing the centre to standardise their software product offering and reduce the individual configuration of some of the current PC’s.

We worked closely with Tay Vally over a number of weeks to ensure a smooth transition to the new system, along with making sure that all of the current software in use was also available on the new system from day one.
